Drove though Death Valley on my way to Vegas. The Jetta wasnt very happy about running in the 100+ degree weather but it made it through ok. This place is true to its name with searing heat and complete dryness. Taking only 1 or 2 breaths make your mouth dry. Some amazing geology out here ... alot of which seems to be frozen in time due to the climate.

Sand Dunes .. there are only 3 sand dune areas in the whole park and the sand is incredibly soft

Death Valley
Movie

Experience the thrill of driving through Death Valley

Ruins of the first Borax mining operation

You can see cross sections of each ancient lava flow where then land has been shifted

A hiking trail ... didnt make it very far before I was running for the A/C in the car !

The lowest point in the Western Hemisphere ... 280 feet below sea level in the middle of a small and shallow pond. This is the only water I saw in the park and they say the water has a higher salt content than sea water

Easy driving ... just keep it pointed straight and steady
