I rode in the Sea Otter Classic Mountain Bike Cross Country Race this year. The Sea Otter takes place in the foothills surrounding Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey, CA and includes Road, Downhill, Jumping, Trials, and Mountain Bike Cross Country Competitions. The MTB XC race is the largest one in the US with over 3000 entries. The MTB XC course is a grueling 18 miles long with 2300' of climbing. There is some awesome singletrack in the middle of the course but you pay the price with a long 4 mile climb at the end. I finished 98th out of 200 ... not bad for 1 week of training !
